2Relating to: proclaiming April 26, 2024, as Shared Parenting Day in Wisconsin.
3Whereas, the State of Wisconsin recognizes that our children are our greatest resource; and
4Whereas, our children need emotional and parental support from both parents to be as successful as possible; and
5Whereas, separated parents who choose to share parenting duties significantly decrease the chances of undesirable youth troubles and struggles; and
6Whereas, shared parenting is shown to have a significantly positive effect on children’s well-being; and
7Whereas, Wisconsin is currently the leading state in shared parenting outcomes for children with separated parents; and
8Whereas, increasing the public awareness of the importance of providing children with the parental support they need from both parents benefits Wisconsin’s children, their parents, and all of Wisconsin’s citizens; now, therefore, be it
9Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin Legislature hereby proclaim April 26, 2024, as Shared Parenting Day in Wisconsin.
