Announcements, adjournment honors, and remarks under special privilege
Senator Miller, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of Monona Grove High School senior McKenna Warnock as the Gatorade 2019 Wisconsin girls basketball player of the year. This award recognizes athletic excellence, academic achievement, and excellence of character. McKenna led her Silver Eagles basketball team to the Badger Conference South Championship. She is a three time conference first team selection and a two time all-state first team honoree. This season McKenna averaged 29.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists while maintaining a 4.0 GPA and volunteering on behalf of a homeless shelter and youth sports camps. Her Wisconsin fans will likely get to see her playing at the Kohl Center in the future as McKenna has signed her letter of intent to play basketball for the University of Iowa.
Senator Darling, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of the Nicolet Knight boys’ basketball team who won their first WIAA Division 2 State Title on March 17, 2019 with a 67-54 victory over Milwaukee Washington. The Knights finished the season 27-1 and ranked #9 in the nation according to MaxPreps. The team was led by the AP Player of the Year in Wisconsin and unanimous first time all-state, Jalen Johnson. Congratulations to head coach Allan Hanson and his team on a historic season.
