The Assembly met in the Assembly Chamber located in the State Capitol. Pursuant to Section 13.02 of the Wisconsin Statutes and Assembly Rule 5, the Assembly was called to order by the Chief Clerk of the 2017-2018 session, Patrick E. Fuller. The prayer was offered by Dr. Dannie Evans of the House of God Church in Janesville.
The Colors were presented by Company G, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines, 4th Marine Division (Reinforced), Fleet Marine Forces Reserve.
Representatives-elect Loren Oldenburg and Shelia Stubbs led the membership in reciting the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.
Chris Kroeze of Barron, runner-up on Season 15 of “The Voice”, sang the national anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner”, accompanied by the 132nd United States Army Band Brass Quintet.
