SJR79,,33Whereas, this year, an estimated 64,050 adults in the United States will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer; and SJR79,,44Whereas, it is estimated that 50,550 deaths from this disease will occur this year; and SJR79,,55Whereas, pancreatic cancer is the seventh most common cancer in women and the ninth most common cancer in men; and SJR79,,66Whereas, this year, it is estimated that there will be 1,020 deaths from pancreatic cancer in Wisconsin; and SJR79,,77Whereas, in 2023, pancreatic cancer may be the third-leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States and the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in Wisconsin; and SJR79,,88Whereas, the good health and well-being of the residents of Wisconsin are enhanced as a direct result of increased awareness about pancreatic cancer and research in early detection, causes, and effective treatments; now, therefore, be it SJR79,,99Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin Legislature proclaims November 2023 to be Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and encourages all citizens to increase awareness of, education for, and services for pancreatic cancer in Wisconsin.
