Under current law, the Department of Veterans Affairs may annually grant up to $75,000 to the Wisconsin department of the American Legion for the operation of Camp American Legion. This bill increases the amount the department may grant to up to $120,000, and directs that the granted money be used to pay up to half of the annual wages and salaries associated with the operation of Camp American Legion, or $120,000 for the annual wages and salaries associated with the operation of Camp American Legion, whichever is less.

SB639,15Section 1. 45.41 (5) of the statutes is amended to read:
SB639,,6645.41 (5) From the appropriation under s. 20.485 (2) (vs), the department may annually grant up to $75,000 $120,000 to the Wisconsin department of the American Legion for the annual wages and salaries associated with the operation of Camp American Legion. The department shall issue a grant to the Wisconsin department of the American Legion for the purposes stated under this subsection in an amount not exceed one-half of the annual wages and salaries associated with the operation of Camp American Legion, or $120,000, whichever is less.
