Current rules promulgated by the Department of Transportation establish limitations on the degree to which motor vehicle windows may be tinted. This bill provides that the limitations do not apply to vehicles owned by the state or a county, city, village, or town when tinting is necessary for the protection of personnel, passengers, or equipment.

SB525,15Section 1. 347.02 (8) of the statutes is created to read:
SB525,,66347.02 (8) If the department establishes by rule limitations on the tinting of motor vehicle windows, the limitations do not apply to vehicles owned by the state or a county, city, village, or town when tinting is necessary for the protection of personnel, passengers, or equipment.
