1An Act relating to: medication-assisted treatment expansion.

This bill requires the Department of Health Services to request supplemental
funding from the Joint Committee on Finance and, if funding is received, to award
grants to develop or support entities that offer medication-assisted treatment for
substance use. The DHS appropriations may be supplemented after JCF approves
a request by DHS for the funding, and JCF is not required to find an emergency to
make the supplement.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

Nonstatutory provisions.

Medication-assisted treatment expansion. After requesting and receiving
4an appropriation supplement for the purpose of implementing this subsection from
5the joint committee on finance, the department of health services shall award grants
6of up to $500,000 cumulatively in fiscal year 2021-22 and up to $1,000,000
1cumulatively annually thereafter to develop or support entities that offer
2medication-assisted treatment for substance use. The joint committee on finance,
3upon its approval of a request by the department of health services and without
4needing a finding of emergency, shall supplement any applicable appropriation of the
5department of health services for the purposes of this subsection.
