SB1017,1,2 1An Act to create 758.20 (4) of the statutes; relating to: the availability of
2information on crimes through the consolidated court automation programs.

Under current law, the director of state courts maintains the consolidated court
automation programs website, which is an Internet site that is the statewide
electronic circuit court case management system. The director of state courts has
discretion regarding what information is available through the CCAP website.
Under the bill, the director of state courts must ensure that the CCAP website
provides the following information in a searchable format for all crimes: the county
in which charges were filed, the judge assigned to the case, all cases adjudicated by
the judge, the criminal charge filed, the charging recommendation from the referring
law enforcement agency, if applicable, whether the case resulted in a conviction, and
the penalty that was imposed, if any, in the case.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB1017,1 3Section 1 . 758.20 (4) of the statutes is created to read:
SB1017,2,24 758.20 (4) For every crime, as defined in s. 939.12, the director of state courts
5shall ensure that the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access Internet site provides all of the

1following categories of information in a format that is searchable by each each
2category of information:
SB1017,2,33 (a) The county in which charges were filed.
SB1017,2,44 (b) The judge assigned to the case.
SB1017,2,55 (c) All cases adjudicated by the judge.
SB1017,2,66 (d) The criminal charge filed.
SB1017,2,87 (e) The charging recommendation from the referring law enforcement agency,
8if applicable.
SB1017,2,99 (f) Whether the case resulted in a conviction.
SB1017,2,1010 (g) The penalty that was imposed, if any, in the case.
SB1017,2 11Section 2 . Initial applicability.
SB1017,2,1512 (1) The treatment of s. 758.20 (4) first applies to case management information
13entered before the effective date of this subsection if information regarding the case
14is available on the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access Internet site, as defined in s.
15758.20 (1), on the effective date of this subsection.
SB1017,3 16Section 3. Effective date.
SB1017,2,1817 (1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 7th month beginning after
18publication.
