1An Act to amend 20.866 (2) (uz) of the statutes;
relating to: a new juvenile

Under current law, in
2017 Wisconsin Act 185, section
110 (7), the Department
of Corrections is required to administer a program under which DOC establishes or
constructs one or more Type 1 juvenile correctional facilities, subject to the approval
of the Joint Committee on Finance. This bill authorizes $41,791,000 in general fund
supported borrowing for the purpose of constructing a new Type 1 juvenile
correctional facility under that program in Milwaukee County.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

Corrections; juvenile correctional facilities. From the capital
5improvement fund, a sum sufficient for the department of corrections to acquire,
6construct, develop, enlarge or improve juvenile correctional facilities. The state may
1contract public debt in an amount not to exceed $28,652,200 for this purpose.
The
2state may contract additional public debt in an amount up to $41,791,000 for this
3purpose.

2017 Wisconsin Act 185, under projects financed by general fund
8supported borrowing, the amount authorized for the project identified as “Type 1
9juvenile correctional facilities — statewide” is increased by $41,791,000, and the
10appropriate totals are adjusted accordingly, for the purpose of constructing a new
11Type 1 juvenile correctional facility in Milwaukee County.
