SB72,1,3 1An Act to amend 106.13 (2m); and to create 106.13 (2m) (a) to (p) of the statutes;
2relating to: requiring certain occupational areas to be included in the youth
3apprenticeship program.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the Department of Workforce Development to include 16
specific occupational areas, commonly referred to as “career clusters,” for the youth
apprenticeship program. Under current law, DWD is required to approve and
maintain a list of approved career clusters, but is not required to include any specific
career cluster.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB72,1 4Section 1. 106.13 (2m) of the statutes is renumbered 106.13 (2m) (intro.) and
5amended to read:
SB72,2,26 106.13 (2m) (intro.) The department shall approve occupations occupational
7areas
and maintain a list of approved occupations occupational areas for the youth

1apprenticeship program. The department shall include in its approved list, at a
2minimum, all of the following occupational areas:
SB72,2,5 3(2r) From the appropriation under s. 20.445 (1) (a), the department shall
4develop curricula for youth apprenticeship programs for occupations occupational
5areas
approved under this subsection sub. (2m).
