Relating to a Special Election for the Sixty-Fourth Assembly District
WHEREAS, Secretary-Designee Peter Barca submitted his resignation January 7, 2019, as State Representative for the Sixty-Fourth Assembly District.
NOW THEREFORE, I, TONY EVERS, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, pursuant to article IV, section 14 of the Wisconsin Constitution and section 8.50 (4) of the Wisconsin Statutes, order that a special election shall be held on April 30, 2019, to fill the vacancy in the Sixty-Fourth Assembly District, as created in 2011 Act 43, and whose boundaries are set out in Section 4.64 of the Wisconsin Statutes. A copy of the boundary descriptions may be obtained from the Elections Commission or the Legislative Reference Bureau. The term of office for the Sixty-Fourth Assembly District will expire on the first Monday in January 2021. If a primary is necessary, it shall be held on April 2, 2019. Circulation of nomination papers for candidates may begin today, February 14, 2019, and nomination papers shall be filed no later than 5:00 p.m. on March 5, 2019, in the office of the Elections Commission, 212 East Washington Avenue, Third Floor, Madison, Wisconsin. These election shall be held, conducted, canvassed, and returned in accordance of law. IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Wisconsin to be affixed. Done at the Capitol in the City of Madison this fourteenth day of February in the year of two thousand nineteen.
