Evaluate Wisconsin’s current retirement system as well as employer-sponsored and individual retirement plans’ financial impact to the state and overall economy;

Identify barriers to accessing existing employer-sponsored and individual retirement plans commonly available to Wisconsinites;

Research best practices from industry, academia, and other states on retirement security;

Provide guidance on the average amount a Wisconsinite should save to achieve a secure retirement; and

Provide recommendations regarding:

How the state can best address the retirement crisis for Wisconsinites who do not have a way to save for retirement;

Reducing the regulatory and operational burden on small businesses who want to offer payroll deduction retirement savings options to employees;

Encouraging younger Wisconsinites to save early in life;

Other innovative reforms to help Wisconsinites retire in a financially secure manner.
