1An Act to create 165.989 of the statutes;
relating to: community-oriented
2policing-house grant program.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the Department of Justice to distribute grants to cities with
a population of 30,000 or more to fund community-oriented policing-house
programs. The bill specifies certain criteria that DOJ must consider in awarding the
grants.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

1. 165.989 of the statutes is created to read:

4165.989 Community-oriented policing-house grant program. The
5department of justice shall award grants to cities with a population of 30,000 or more
6to fund community-oriented policing-house programs. The department of justice
7shall use the following criteria in awarding grants under this section:

1(1) The ability to maximize grant resources to serve the greatest number of
2people and the greatest number of cities.

3(2) The city's plan to integrate the community-oriented policing house into the
4fabric of the community and the neighborhood.

5(3) The future ability to use the community-oriented policing house for
6multiple purposes, including building relationships between law enforcement and
7the community and connecting residents of the neighborhood to community
8supports.

9(4) The ability for community organizations, government agencies,
10faith-based organizations, and other nonprofit entities to use the
11community-oriented policing house once it is established.
