(7) Notwithstanding the limitations under sub. (2) (a), and beginning

1than a total of $6,000,000 that may be obligated only to provide financial assistance
2to counties for projects to maintain, repair, modify, abandon, or remove dams. For
3purposes of s. 23.0917, beginning with fiscal year 2015-16, the moneys provided
4under this subsection from s. 20.866 (2) (ta) shall be treated as moneys obligated
5under s. 23.0917 (5g) (c) 2. c. To be eligible for financial assistance, a county must
6be under an order issued by the department to maintain, repair, modify, abandon, or
7remove a dam that is owned by the county and the order must be in effect on July 1,
82011. The amount of the financial assistance may not be for more than 25 percent
9of the costs of a project or $2,500,000, whichever is less. Subsection (2) (c) does not
10apply to a project for which financial assistance is provided under this subsection.
11A project need not be included under the inventory maintained by the department
12under sub. (4) in order for a county to receive financial assistance under this

Amount of aids payments.
9Notwithstanding sub. (2) and subject to pars. (b) and (c), for a town for which the
10amount of aid determined under sub. (2) (a) 2. is limited by sub. (2) (d), the amount
11of aid under this subsection is calculated by dividing $2,500,000 by the total mileage
12of town roads in towns eligible to receive aid under this subsection and then
13multiplying that amount by the total mileage of town roads in the town receiving aid.
14The department shall determine the amount of aid payable under this paragraph no
15later than October 1 of the year prior to the calender year in which the aid would be
16payable.
