NOTICE OF PRELIMINARY PUBLIC HEARING

Notice of Preliminary Hearing Date

The Commissioner is seeking public input regarding a proposed bulletin discussing 2017 Act 241 and evidence of insurance. Public comment is sought through the hearing and comment period. The date for the public hearing is Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 10:00 am. Comments will be accepted until 4:00 pm on Thursday, June 21, 2018.

Analysis

The proposed bulletin communicates that 2017 Act 241 created new unfair marketing practices surrounding the misuse of evidence of insurance, including certificates of insurance. These new provisions apply to insurers, intermediaries, and consumers, alike. The proposed bulletin reiterates guidance from prior bulletins on this subject and provides additional suggestions for consideration by regulated entities in light of Act 241. Following the comment period, all comments will be considered prior to issuance of the Bulletin.
