Trans 112.10(3)(bm)1. 1. There has been a single, nonrecurring episode of altered consciousness or loss of bodily control occurring at least 2 years preceding application, and the cause of the episode has been identified and no treatment is required.
Trans 112.10(3)(bm)2. 2. A seizure disorder has been diagnosed, but the person has been episode-free for at least 5 years preceding application.
Trans 112.10(3)(c) (c) Medical standards for all classes of operators licenses. A person who applies for, renews, or holds for any classification of operator's license shall meet all of the following neuromuscular function criteria:
Trans 112.10(3)(c)1. 1. The person may not have had an episode of altered consciousness or loss of bodily control caused by a neurological condition for the 3 month period preceding medical review by the department under this chapter.
Trans 112.10(3)(c)2. 2. The person adequately compensates for any paralysis or sensory deficit when operating a vehicle.
Trans 112.10(3)(c)3. 3. Fatigue, weakness, muscle spasm, pain or tremor at rest does not impair safe driving, as assessed by a physician or APNP or determined through a driving evaluation.
Trans 112.10(3)(c)4. 4. There is no decline in cognition to an extent that interferes with safe driving.

Trans 112.12 Trans 112.12Conditions affecting psychosocial, mental or emotional function.
Trans 112.12(1)(1)With respect to conditions affecting psychosocial, mental or emotional function, the review boards when making recommendations, and the department when taking licensing action, may consider disorders including, but not limited to, the following:
Trans 112.12(1)(a) (a) Schizophrenia.
Trans 112.12(1)(b) (b) Personality disorders.
Trans 112.12(1)(c) (c) Bipolar disorder.
Trans 112.12(1)(d) (d) Delusional disorders.
Trans 112.12(1)(e) (e) Dementia and organic brain syndrome.
Trans 112.12(1)(f) (f) Other mood disorders.
Trans 112.12(2) (2)The department may require information on functional ability including, but not limited to, the following:
Trans 112.12(2)(a) (a) Impaired impulse control.
Trans 112.12(2)(b) (b) Reality testing and orientation.
Trans 112.12(2)(c) (c) Impaired affect or mood.
Trans 112.12(2)(d) (d) Asocial, anti-social or dissocial behaviors.
Trans 112.12(2)(e) (e) Impulse control.
Trans 112.12(2)(f) (f) Suicidal risk.
Trans 112.12(2)(g) (g) Cognitive impairment.
Trans 112.12(2)(h) (h) Treatment program, including medications and compliance.
Trans 112.12(3)(a)(a) Licensing standards. No license or endorsement may be issued to, renewed by, or held by a person who does not meet the medical review standards for conditions affecting psychosocial, mental and emotional function of this subsection.
Trans 112.12(3)(b) (b) Medical standards for school bus and passenger endorsements. A person who applies for, renews, or holds a school bus or passenger endorsement shall meet all of the following mental and emotional function criteria:
Trans 112.12(3)(b)1. 1. The person is oriented to time, date, person and place.
Trans 112.12(3)(b)2. 2. There is no behavior disorder that interferes with safe driving, as assessed by a physician or APNP.
Trans 112.12(3)(b)3. 3. There are, at the time of the application for or renewal or holding of the endorsement, no destructive behaviors or suicidal tendencies.
Trans 112.12(3)(c) (c) Medical standards for all classes of operators licenses. A person who applies for, renews, or holds any classification of operator's license shall meet all of the following mental and emotional function criteria:
Trans 112.12(3)(c)1. 1. There is no dementia that is unresponsive to treatment.
Trans 112.12(3)(c)2. 2. There is no behavior disorder with threatening or assaultive behavior at the time of application.
Trans 112.12(3)(c)3. 3. Any delusional system does not interfere with safe driving, as assessed by a physician or APNP.
Trans 112.12(3)(c)4. 4. There is no impairment of judgment that interferes with safe driving as assessed by a physician or APNP.
Trans 112.12(3)(c)5. 5. There is no active psychosis that interferes with safe driving, as assessed by a physician or APNP.

Trans 112.13 Trans 112.13Conditions affecting respiratory function.
Trans 112.13(1)(1)With respect to conditions affecting respiratory function, the review boards when making recommendations, and the department when taking licensing action, may consider disorders including, but not limited to, the following:
Trans 112.13(1)(a) (a) Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Trans 112.13(1)(b) (b) Asthma.
Trans 112.13(1)(c) (c) Emphysema.
Trans 112.13(1)(d) (d) Bronchitis.
Trans 112.13(1)(e) (e) Tuberculosis.
Trans 112.13(1)(f) (f) Silicosis.
Trans 112.13(1)(g) (g) Pulmonary emboli.
Trans 112.13(1)(h) (h) Pulmonary hypertension.
Trans 112.13(1)(i) (i) Pulmonary tumors.
Trans 112.13(2) (2)The department may require information on functional ability including, but not limited to, the following:
Trans 112.13(2)(a) (a) Incapacitating cough.
Trans 112.13(2)(b) (b) Shortness of breath.
Trans 112.13(2)(c) (c) Dyspnea.
Trans 112.13(2)(d) (d) Inadequate ventilation.
Trans 112.13(2)(e) (e) Fatigue.
Trans 112.13(2)(f) (f) Right ventricular enlargement.
Trans 112.13(2)(g) (g) Acute respiratory failure.
Trans 112.13(2)(h) (h) Hypoxemia or hypercapnia.
Trans 112.13(2)(i) (i) Need for medication or oxygen therapy.
Trans 112.13(2)(j) (j) Pulmonary function tests.
Trans 112.13(3)(a)(a) Licensing standards. No license or endorsement may be issued to, renewed by, or held by a person who does not meet the medical review standards for conditions affecting respiratory function of this subsection.
Trans 112.13(3)(b) (b) Medical standards for school bus and passenger endorsements. A person who applies for, renews, or holds school bus or passenger endorsement shall meet all of the following respiratory function criteria:
Trans 112.13(3)(b)1. 1. Pulmonary disease is healed or inactive.
Trans 112.13(3)(b)2. 2. Values obtained from pulmonary function tests for forced vital capacity and forced expiratory volume in one second are not less than 65% of normal values.
Trans 112.13(3)(b)3. 3. There is no required oxygen use.
Trans 112.13(3)(b)4. 4. Medications improve breathing but do not interfere with safe driving.
Trans 112.13(3)(b)5. 5. There is no diagnosis of sleep apnea unless the physician or APNP indicates treatment has been successful and the condition will not impair ability to safely operate a commercial vehicle.
Trans 112.13(3)(c) (c) Medical standards for all classes of operators licenses. A person who applies for, renews, or holds any classification of operator's license shall meet all of the following respiratory function criteria:
Trans 112.13(3)(c)1. 1. The person does not require medication or treatment that interferes with safe driving.
Trans 112.13(3)(c)2. 2. There is no dyspnea that interferes with safe driving, as assessed by a physician or APNP or determined through a driving evaluation.

Trans 112.14 Trans 112.14Conditions affecting sensory function.
Trans 112.14(1)(1)With respect to conditions affecting sensory function, the review boards when making recommendations, and the department when taking licensing action, may consider conditions including, but not limited to, the following:
Trans 112.14(1)(a) (a) Cataracts.
Trans 112.14(1)(b) (b) Macular degeneration.
Trans 112.14(1)(c) (c) Retinitis pigmentosa.
Trans 112.14(1)(d) (d) Diabetic retinopathy.
Trans 112.14(1)(e) (e) Glaucoma.
Trans 112.14(1)(f) (f) Deafness.
Trans 112.14(2) (2)The department may require information on functional ability including, but not limited to, the following:
Trans 112.14(2)(a) (a) Visual acuity.
Trans 112.14(2)(b) (b) Field of vision.
Trans 112.14(2)(c) (c) Hearing.
Trans 112.14(3)(a)(a) Licensing standards. No endorsement or license may be issued to, renewed by, or held by a person who does not meet the medical review standards for conditions affecting sensory functions of this subsection.
Trans 112.14(3)(b) (b) Corrective lenses. A person needing corrective lenses to meet the standards in this section shall be restricted to use of those lenses while driving. No person may use a bioptic telescopic or similar lens in order to meet the visual acuity standards of this subsection if the lens reduces the field of vision below the standards in this subsection.
Trans 112.14(3)(c) (c) Medical standards for school bus and passenger endorsements. A person who applies for, renews, or holds a school bus or passenger endorsement shall meet all of the following criteria:
Trans 112.14(3)(c)1. 1. Visual acuity of at least 20/40 in each eye, corrected or uncorrected.
