SJR55,1,42Whereas, older than the nation it defends, the U.S. Army was established on 3June 14, 1775, and this year marks 250 years of continuous defense of the nation; 4and SJR55,1,65Whereas, as we celebrate the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army, we reflect on its 6rich history and legacy of service, sacrifice, and dedication; and SJR55,1,97Whereas, from the Revolutionary War to present-day missions, our soldiers 8have consistently demonstrated their resolve to defend freedom at home and 9abroad; and SJR55,1,1210Whereas, for 250 years, U.S. Army soldiers, families, and Army civilians have 11supported our nation, bearing true faith and allegiance to the country, the U.S. 12Constitution, and the Army; and SJR55,2,213Whereas, America’s Army is the largest of the armed services, consisting of
1more than 1.2 million people across the globe who defend our country every day; 2and SJR55,2,43Whereas, today's Army stands ready to meet any challenge and will continue 4to adapt and modernize to remain the most lethal ground force in the world; and SJR55,2,75Whereas, more than 10,000 Army soldiers and civilians are currently 6stationed or working in Wisconsin, and more than 100,000 Army veterans call 7Wisconsin home; and SJR55,2,118Whereas, since it was established in 1909, U.S. Army Garrison Fort McCoy 9has played a crucial role in our nation’s defense and growth as a nation, both as a 10mobilization and training site for military personnel and as a select location for 11housing displaced persons; and SJR55,2,1412Whereas, Fort McCoy is the only U.S. Army installation in Wisconsin, has a 13local and regional economic impact of nearly $1.4 billion, and remains one of 14Monroe County’s largest employers; and SJR55,2,1615Whereas, each Army soldier serves according to the Army Values of loyalty, 16duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage; and SJR55,2,1917Whereas, Army soldiers and civilians will continue to maintain the trust and 18confidence of the American people while adding to the proud legacy of the Army; 19and SJR55,2,2220Whereas, Wisconsin honors and appreciates its Army soldiers, civilians, and 21veterans and their legacy of brave service to our state and nation as a whole; now, 22therefore, be it SJR55,3,223Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin
