AJR70,1,32Whereas, these lands were inhabited by Indigenous peoples for millennia
3before immigrants from around the world settled here; and
AJR70,1,64Whereas, for generations, individuals from every corner of the globe have
5made the United States and Wisconsin their home, shaping the unique character of
6our state and nation; and
AJR70,1,97Whereas, Wisconsin is currently home to approximately 308,000 immigrants,
8as well as nearly 130,000 U.S.-born children with one or more immigrant parents;
9and
AJR70,1,1110Whereas, immigrants helped Wisconsin achieve statehood in 1848, and 177
11years later, immigrants continue to enrich and advance our state; and
AJR70,1,1412Whereas, many of Wisconsins largest and most important sectors—including
13art, science, government, education, farming, and tourism—have benefited from
14the dedication and labor of immigrants; and

1Whereas, immigrants play a vital role in our economy, generating an
2estimated household income of $13.5 billion and contributing approximately $1.2
3billion in state and local taxes annually; and
AJR70,2,74Whereas, immigrants account for 11.5 percent of Wisconsins agricultural
5workforce and 15 percent of the information technology workforce, and Wisconsin's
6immigrant population includes 18,200 entrepreneurs whose business income
7exceeds $527 million annually; and
AJR70,2,118Whereas, Immigrant Heritage Month is a time for Wisconsinites to come
9together in a spirit of unity, kindness, and inclusivity, rejecting prejudice against
10immigrants regardless of legal status or nation of origin and celebrating their
11ongoing contributions to our communities and state; now, therefore, be it
AJR70,2,1412Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
13Legislature proclaims June 2025 as Immigrant Heritage Month in the state of
14Wisconsin.
