SENATE AMENDMENT 1, TO SENATE BILL 59

SB59-SA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

SB59-SA1,1,3 1. Page 1, line 7: after “college” insert “and grants for certain veterans and their dependents enrolled in private colleges”.

SB59-SA1,1,4 2. Page 10, line 4: after that line insert:

SB59-SA1,1,5 “Section 17g. 39.49 (1) (e) of the statutes is amended to read:

SB59-SA1,1,8 39.49 (1) (e) “Private institution” means a private nonprofit institution that is a member of the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of higher education headquartered in this state.

SB59-SA1,17j Section 17j. 39.49 (2) (a) 1. of the statutes is amended to read:

SB59-SA1,2,4 39.49 (2) (a) 1. Except as provided in subds. 2. and subd. 3., the board shall make grants from the appropriation under s. 20.235 (1) (a) for the period specified in par. (b) in the amount determined under par. (c) for an eligible student for each semester or session he or she is enrolled in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program of a private institution and maintains a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0. The board shall make the grants to the private institution in which the eligible student is enrolled to offset the tuition charged by the private institution.

SB59-SA1,17m Section 17m. 39.49 (2) (a) 2. of the statutes is repealed.”.
