SJR76,,33Whereas, October 28, 2023, is recognized nationally as First Responders Appreciation Day; and
SJR76,,44Whereas, first responders include all professional and volunteer police, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel; and
SJR76,,55Whereas, first responders risk their safety on a daily basis to protect the public from threats and emergency situations and provide lifesaving services; and
SJR76,,66Whereas, first responders stand ready to serve and protect the public 24 hours per day; and
SJR76,,77Whereas, there are approximately 4.6 million first responders in the United States serving in disciplines such as law enforcement, emergency management, emergency medical services, fire and rescue, and public works; and
SJR76,,88Whereas, in Wisconsin, there are over 4,728 career fire fighters, 21,000 volunteer fire fighters, 14,450 law enforcement officers, and 17,426 career and volunteer EMS personnel; and
