SB522,,33Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau Under current law, technical college district boards must be composed of nine members who are residents of the district. This bill requires that technical college district board members also be United States citizens.
SB522,,44The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows: SB522,15Section 1. 38.08 (1) (a) 1. (intro.) of the statutes is amended to read: SB522,,6638.08 (1) (a) 1. (intro.) A district board shall administer the district and, except as provided in subd. 1g., shall be composed of 9 members who are U.S. citizens and residents of the district, consisting of the following: SB522,27Section 2. 38.08 (1) (a) 1g. (intro.) of the statutes is amended to read: SB522,,8838.08 (1) (a) 1g. (intro.) The district board governing the Milwaukee area technical college shall be composed of 9 members who are U.S. citizens and residents of the district, 7 of whom are residents of Milwaukee County, consisting of the following: SB522,39Section 3. Initial applicability. SB522,,1010(1) This act first applies to a technical college district board member who begins a term on or after the effective date of this bill.
