SB397,,22An Act to repeal 6.36 (6); and to create 6.36 (6m) of the statutes; relating to: fees for obtaining the official voter registration list. SB397,,33Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau Under current law, the Elections Commission establishes a fee, by rule, for obtaining a copy of the official voter registration list. The fee amount is an amount estimated to cover both the cost of reproduction and the cost of maintaining the list at the state and local level.
Under this bill, a person may obtain a copy of the official voter registration list for Wisconsin, or any portion of the list, electronically by paying a fee of $250 or less as established by the the Elections Commission. The bill authorizes the commission to charge an additional fee for providing a copy of the list in physical form in order to cover the cost of reproduction and postage, if any.

SB397,,44The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows: SB397,15Section 1. 6.36 (6) of the statutes is repealed. SB397,26Section 2. 6.36 (6m) of the statutes is created to read: SB397,,776.36 (6m) Subject to the restrictions under sub. (1) (b), a person may obtain a copy of the official registration list, or any portion of the list, electronically by paying to the commission a fee established by the commission of $250 or less. If a person wishes to obtain a physical copy of the official registration list, or any portion of the list, the commission may charge the person a fee in addition to the fee established by the commission under this subsection in order to cover the cost of reproducing the list in physical form and the cost of postage, if any.
