Current law requires every school board and the governing body of every private school to provide a standard first aid kit for use in cases of emergency. This bill requires school boards and governing bodies of private schools to make accessible, as part of a first aid kit, an anti-choking device that is registered as a Class I or Class II medical device with the United States Food and Drug Administration. The bill also requires school boards and the governing bodies of private schools to annually provide training on the use of anti-choking devices according to the device manufacturer’s instructions.

SB156,15Section 1. 118.07 (1) of the statutes is renumbered 118.07 (1) (a).
SB156,26Section 2. 118.07 (1) (b) of the statutes is created to read:
SB156,,77118.07 (1) (b) Every school board and the governing body of every private school shall, as part of a first aid kit provided under par. (a), make accessible an anti-choking device that is registered as a class I or class II medical device with the federal food and drug administration and shall annually provide training for school staff on the use of the anti-choking device according to the device manufacturer’s instructions.
