AJR128,,33Whereas, in December 2023, over 300,000 migrants crossed over the border between the United States and Mexico; and
AJR128,,44Whereas, this unprecedented surge of migrants risks exposing the country to an influx of illegal drugs; and
AJR128,,55Whereas, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has pledged to deter migrants in absence of tougher border administration by the Biden Administration; and
AJR128,,66Whereas, as part of Operation Lone Star, Governor Abbott has installed floating barriers and razor wire fences along the Rio Grande, while also deploying the Texas National Guard; and
AJR128,,77Whereas, rather than support Governor Abbott, the federal government has sued to block these efforts to secure the border; and
AJR128,,88Whereas, 25 governors have announced that they stand in solidarity with Governor Abbott in his effort to take action in the midst of federal inaction; now, therefore, be it
