AJR12,,33Whereas, Wisconsin’s construction industry is an important stimulator of our economy; and AJR12,,44Whereas, a recent Associated Builders and Contractors study found that 590,000 new skilled workers are needed to fill construction jobs in 2023; and AJR12,,55Whereas, jobs in the construction industry offer long-term, family-supporting careers; and AJR12,,66Whereas, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 14 percent of construction workers are women, an all-time high; and AJR12,,77Whereas, national Women in Construction Week highlights the incredible initiatives and work of women within the construction industry; and AJR12,,88Whereas, national Women in Construction Week is observed to show our appreciation to those women who have contributed to the construction industry, while encouraging others to make the same commitment; and AJR12,,99Whereas, by helping to raise awareness of the available opportunities for women in the construction industry, the numbers and achievements of women in the construction industry can continue to grow; now, therefore, be it AJR12,,1010Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin Legislature join in declaring March 5, 2023, to March 11, 2023, as Women in Construction Week and celebrating the countless contributions of women in construction, not only those currently in the construction industry but those who have paved the way.
