EXECUTIVE ORDER #225
Relating to a Special Election for the Fourth Senate District
WHEREAS, Senator Lena Taylor was elected to the Fourth Senate District on November 3, 2020, and resigned as Senator for the Fourth Senate District on January 26, 2024.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, TONY EVERS, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, pursuant to Article IV, Section 14, of the Wisconsin Constitution and Section 8.50 of the Wisconsin Statutes, order that a special election shall be held on July 30, 20241, to fill a vacancy in the Fourth Senate District, as created in 2023 Act 94, and whose boundaries are set out in Sections 4.009 (4) of the Wisconsin Statutes. A copy of the boundary descriptions may be obtained from the Elections Commission of the Legislative Reference Bureau. The term of office for the Fourth Senate District will expire on the first Monday in January 2025. If a primary is necessary, it shall be held on July 2, 2024. Circulation of nomination papers for candidates may begin today, May 14, 2024, and nominations papers shall be filed no later than 5:00:00 p.m. on June 4, 2024, in the office of the Elections Commission, 201 West Washington Avenue, Second Floor, Madison, Wisconsin. This election shall be held, conducted, canvassed, and returned in accordance with law.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great seal of the State of Wisconsin to be affixed. Done at the Capitol in the City of Madison this fourteenth day of May, in the year two thousand twenty-four.
