2023 Assembly Joint Resolution 81
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: proclaiming October 2023 as Manufacturing Month.
Whereas, the manufacturing sector in Wisconsin is a major contributor to the economic engine of the state, providing over $68 billion per year in economic output, or 20 percent of the state’s total gross domestic product; and
Whereas, the manufacturing sector in Wisconsin employs nearly one in six workers in the state through roughly 92,000 companies; and
Whereas, Wisconsin proudly leads the nation as a top state in manufacturing jobs per capita, according to the most recent U.S. Census data; and
Whereas, Wisconsin’s manufacturing sector has remained robust and resilient, creating a total of 9,300 new manufacturing jobs in the past year alone; and
Whereas, Wisconsin continues to support its manufacturing sectors by investing in programs to help the manufacturing sector succeed and expand the talent pipeline, including supporting programs like registered and youth apprenticeships, which provide on-the-job training, as well supporting programs to encourage more youth to consider a career in manufacturing; and
Whereas, October provides an opportunity for the state to celebrate the success of our state’s manufacturing industry while also promoting and showcasing the rewarding jobs in Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin Legislature hereby recognizes October 2023 as Manufacturing Month.
