SENATE AMENDMENT 1, TO SENATE BILL 251

August 21, 2023 - Offered by Senator Quinn.

SB251-SA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

SB251-SA1,1,2 1. Page 3, line 1: delete “one-year" and substitute “staggered 3-year".

SB251-SA1,1,3 2. Page 3, line 4: on lines 4 and 8, delete “one-year" and substitute “3-year".

SB251-SA1,1,4 3. Page 3, line 11: after that line insert:

SB251-SA1,1,5 “ Section 5m. 15.497 (2) (at) of the statutes is created to read:

SB251-SA1,1,10 15.497 (2) (at) For a 3-year term, a veteran services coordinator who is employed at a college or university that is a member of the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities and who is selected by the president of the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities or his or her designee.”.

SB251-SA1,1,12 “ Section 8. Nonstatutory provisions.

SB251-SA1,2,8 (1) Term lengths. Notwithstanding the length of terms specified for the members of the council on veterans programs under s. 15.497 (2) (ag), each member serving on the council on the effective date of this subsection shall serve the remainder of the term for which he or she was appointed. After the effective date of this subsection, at the expiration of the terms of the members serving on the effective date of this subsection, 7 of the members shall be appointed for terms expiring on July 1, 2024; 6 of the members shall be appointed for terms expiring on July 1, 2025; and 6 of the members shall be appointed for terms expiring on July 1, 2026.”.
