2023 WISCONSIN ACT 160
An Act to create 38.04 (4) (e) 9., 84.01 (38), 115.28 (11) (h) and 343.71 (5) (i) of the statutes; relating to: driver education instruction related to work zone safety.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
160,1Section 1. 38.04 (4) (e) 9. of the statutes is created to read:
38.04 (4) (e) 9. Using materials determined under s. 84.01 (38), acquaints each student with the hazards posed by highway work zones and provides at least 30 minutes of instruction in safely dealing with these hazards.
160,2Section 2. 84.01 (38) of the statutes is created to read:
84.01 (38) Work zone safety education. The department shall determine the materials to be used in the work zone safety instruction required under ss. 38.04 (4) (e) 9., 115.28 (11) (h), and 343.71 (5) (i).
160,3Section 3. 115.28 (11) (h) of the statutes is created to read:
115.28 (11) (h) Using materials determined under s. 84.01 (38), acquaint each student with the hazards posed by highway work zones and provide at least 30 minutes of instruction in safely dealing with these hazards.
160,4Section 4. 343.71 (5) (i) of the statutes is created to read:
343.71 (5) (i) Using materials determined under s. 84.01 (38), acquaints each student with the hazards posed by highway work zones and provides at least 30 minutes of instruction in safely dealing with these hazards.
160,5Section 5. Initial applicability.
(1) The treatment of ss. 38.04 (4) (e) 9., 115.28 (11) (h), and 343.71 (5) (i) first applies to driver education courses that begin on the effective date of this subsection.
