SJR43,1,1 Relating to: recognizing March as Endometriosis Awareness Month.

SJR43,1,3 Whereas, endometriosis is a disorder in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of the uterine cavity; and

SJR43,1,5 Whereas, endometriosis affects around 10 percent of all women during their reproductive years, or about 176 million women worldwide; and

SJR43,1,7 Whereas, the pain associated with endometriosis can be physically and emotionally debilitating; and

SJR43,1,9 Whereas, 30 to 40 percent of women suffering from endometriosis may not be able to have children; and

SJR43,1,10 Whereas, endometriosis can be treated but is not yet curable; and

SJR43,1,12 Whereas, the cause of endometriosis is as yet unknown, but is not transmissible from one human to another; and

SJR43,1,14 Whereas, awareness and education are vital to supporting those affected by endometriosis; and

SJR43,2,2 Whereas, raising awareness of endometriosis may help women recognize that they may be affected by the disease and to seek treatment; and

SJR43,2,6 Whereas, Endometriosis Awareness Month can provide Wisconsin with an opportunity to learn more about the disease while providing those impacted by endometriosis with a platform to share their stories, build relationships, and receive the resources and support they need; now, therefore, be it

SJR43,2,9 Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin State Legislature does hereby recognize March 2021 as Endometriosis Awareness Month.
