SJR11,1,43 Whereas, Rush Limbaugh died on February 17, 2021, at his home in Palm
4Beach, Florida; and
SJR11,1,65 Whereas, Limbaugh was considered one of the most influential broadcasters in
6American history; and
SJR11,1,87 Whereas, Limbaugh was a talk radio pioneer beloved by millions of loyal
8listeners for his ardent defense of conservative politics; and
SJR11,1,119 Whereas, Rush Hudson Limbaugh III was born on January 12, 1951, in Cape
10Girardeau, Missouri, the older of two sons of Mildred and Rush Limbaugh Jr., a
11lawyer and Republican activist; and
SJR11,1,1512 Whereas, Limbaugh made his own play-by-play baseball broadcasts as a boy,
13took a summer course in radio engineering at age 16, obtained a broadcaster's
14license, and started working as a disc jockey for a local radio station while still in high

2Kansas City Royals baseball team, a position he held for five years, although his
3irreverence rankled some in the front office; and

5Limbaugh Show,” beginning its 32-year run as one of the nation's highest-rated talk
6radio programs; and

8backgrounds, galvanizing support for conservative policies; and
SJR11,2,119 Whereas, Limbaugh was honored to receive a letter from President Ronald
10Reagan in 1992 that anointed him “the number one voice of conservatism” in the
11United States; and
SJR11,2,1412 Whereas, Limbaugh demonstrated his generosity by raising millions for
13charities such as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Marine Corps-Law
14Enforcement Foundation; and
SJR11,2,1815 Whereas, Limbaugh received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's
16highest civilian honor, during President Donald Trump's state of the union address
17on February 4, 2020, a day after Limbaugh announced he was suffering from
18advanced lung cancer; and
SJR11,2,2019 Whereas, among other heartfelt tributes, former President Trump said that
20Limbaugh's “honor, courage, strength, and loyalty will never be replaced”; and

2Wisconsin Legislature join in honoring the life and accomplishments of Rush
