1Relating to: applying to Congress under the provisions of Article V of the
2Constitution of the United States for a convention to propose an amendment
3establishing term limits for members of the United States House of
4Representatives and the United States Senate.
5 Whereas, the United States and its citizens would be best served by limiting the
6terms of members of the United States House of Representatives and United States
7Senate; and
8 Whereas, under Article V of the Constitution of the United States, the
9Congress, on the application of the legislatures of two-thirds of the several states,
10shall call a convention for proposing amendments to the Constitution of the United
11States; and this application shall be aggregated with the applications from other
12states to Congress to call a convention to set a limit on the number of terms that a
13person may be elected to the United States House of Representatives and the United
14States Senate for the purpose of attaining the two-thirds of states necessary to

1require Congress to call a limited convention on this subject, but shall not be
2aggregated with any other applications on any other subject; now, therefore, be it
3Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of
4the State of Wisconsin herewith respectfully applies to Congress, under the
5provisions of Article V of the Constitution of the United States, for the calling of a
6convention for the limited purpose of proposing an amendment to the Constitution
7of the United States to set a limit on the number of terms that a person may be elected
8as a member of the United States House of Representatives or as a member of the
9United States Senate; and, be it further
10Resolved, That the secretary of state of the State of Wisconsin be, and is
11hereby, directed to forward a proper authenticated copy of this resolution to the
12President of the Senate of the United States, and to the Speaker of the House of
13Representatives of the United States; and, be it further
14Resolved, That this resolution constitutes a continuing application for a
15convention for proposing an amendment in accordance with Article V of the
16Constitution of the United States until such a convention is convened on the same
17subject or until the legislature of the State of Wisconsin rescinds this resolution.
