2statutes;
relating to: an energy efficiency grant program for school districts,
3funding for the University of Wisconsin System, granting rule-making
4authority, and making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill creates a grant program under which the Department of Public
Instruction must award grants to school districts for energy efficiency projects in
school buildings. For the first two school years of the grant program, DPI must give
preference in awarding grants to projects that relate to heating, ventilation, and air
conditioning systems. DPI may promulgate rules to implement the grant program.
The bill also provides additional funding for the University of Wisconsin
System under its general program operations for purposes of maintaining
compliance with maintenance of effort requirements of the federal Consolidated
Appropriations Act and the federal American Rescue Plan Act.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
