1An Act relating to: feasibility study for a highway bridge over the Mississippi
2River at the village of Cassville in Grant County.

This bill requires the Department of Transportation, subject to entering into an
agreement with the state of Iowa, to study the feasibility of constructing a bridge
across the Mississippi River between the village of Cassville in Grant County and the
state of Iowa. Before performing the study, DOT must enter an agreement with the
state of Iowa regarding the funding of the study. Under the agreement, DOT may
not spend more than $1,000,000 and may not cover more than 50 percent of the cost
of the study.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

Nonstatutory provisions.

(1) (a
) Subject to par. (b), the department of transportation shall study the
5feasibility of constructing a highway bridge across the Mississippi River between the
1village of Cassville in Grant County and the State of Iowa and shall submit a report
2of its findings to the legislature in the manner provided under s. 13.172 (2).

(b) The department of transportation may not commence the study under par.
4(a) unless it has entered into an agreement with the state of Iowa regarding the
5funding of the study. The department of transportation may expend not more than
6$1,000,000 and may provide not more than 50 percent of the funds necessary for the
7study under par. (a). The department's share of the cost of the study shall shall be
8funded from the appropriation account under s. 20.395 (3) (bq).
