SB124,1,3 An Act to create 20.455 (2) (cp) and 165.989 of the statutes; relating to: community-oriented policing-house grant program and making an appropriation.

This bill establishes a $600,000 grant program, administered by the Department of Justice, for cities with a population of 60,000 or more to fund community-oriented policing-house programs.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SB124,1 Section 1. 20.005 (3) (schedule) of the statutes: at the appropriate place, insert the following amounts for the purposes indicated: - See PDF for table

SB124,2 Section 2. 20.455 (2) (cp) of the statutes is created to read:

SB124,2,3 20.455 (2) (cp) Community-oriented policing-house grant program. The amounts in the schedule to provide grants to cities under s. 165.989.

SB124,3 Section 3. 165.989 of the statutes is created to read:

SB124,2,7 165.989 Community-oriented policing-house grant program. (1) From the appropriation under s. 20.455 (2) (cp), the department of justice shall award grants to cities to fund community-oriented policing-house programs.

SB124,2,9 (2) A city is eligible for a grant under sub. (1) if the city has a population of 60,000 or more.

SB124,2,12 (3) The department of justice shall develop criteria which, notwithstanding s. 227.10 (1), need not be promulgated as rules under ch. 227 for use in awarding grants under sub. (1).
