1An Act to create 1.15 of the statutes;
relating to: playing or singing the national
2anthem at certain sporting events.

Under this bill, no sporting event may be held in a venue constructed at least
in part with public moneys unless the event is preceded by the playing or singing of
the national anthem.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

1. 1.15 of the statutes is created to read:

41.15 Playing or singing the national anthem at certain sporting events. 5(1) In this section:

(a) “Local governmental unit" means a political subdivision of this state, a
7school district or special purpose district in this state, an agency or corporation of a
8political subdivision, school district, or special purpose district, or a combination or
9subunit of any of the foregoing.

1(b) “Political subdivision" means a city, village, town, or county.

(c) “State agency" means an association, authority, board, department,
3commission, independent agency, institution, office, society, or other body in state
4government created or authorized to be created by the constitution or any law.

5(2) No sporting event may be held in a venue the construction of which was
6financed at least in part from moneys contributed by a state agency or local
7governmental unit unless the event is preceded by the playing or singing of the
8national anthem.
