2021 Senate Joint Resolution 71
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: proclaiming October 2021 to be Right to Life Month in Wisconsin.
Whereas, the U.S. Constitution and the Wisconsin Constitution enshrine the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; and
Whereas, it is the duty of government to protect the unalienable right to life of every person within both the state and the nation; and
Whereas, the life of every innocent child—born or unborn—must be preserved, protected, and defended; and
Whereas, as recently as 2017, approximately 862,320 abortions were performed in the United States in one year, of which 6,360 were performed in Wisconsin; and
Whereas, advocates of the Right to Life movement have consistently and vocally expressed their opposition to abortion as a moral wrong and a public outrage; and
Whereas, the Right to Life movement recognizes the right of medical professionals to refuse participation in a practice that extinguishes human life; and
Whereas, the Right to Life movement understands the need to support mothers in choosing to respect the sanctity of life from the moment of conception; and
Whereas, the Right to Life movement supports education and abstinence—instead of abortion—as the best means to prevent unwanted pregnancies; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the
senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature does hereby proclaim October 2021 to be Right to Life Month in Wisconsin.
