1Relating to: proclaiming October 20 to 26, 2019, as National Massage Therapy
2Awareness Week.
3 Whereas, there are nearly 5,000 licensed massage therapists in the state of
4Wisconsin contributing to the health and wellness of the people of Wisconsin; and
5 Whereas, massage therapy is beneficial to overall health and is increasingly
6part of integrated health care; and
7 Whereas, consumers are spending $8 to $12 billion annually on massage
8therapy; and
9 Whereas, therapeutic massage can benefit people of all ages; and
10 Whereas, a growing body of clinical research shows massage therapy is
11beneficial for a wide variety of health issues, including stress, high blood pressure,
12fibromyalgia, arthritis, back pain, muscles injury and soreness, headaches and just
13maintaining good health; and
14 Whereas, the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), a professional
15association for massage therapists, provides consumer and professional education

1information on massage and helps consumers and health professionals locate
2qualified massage therapists in their area; now, therefore be it
3Resolved by the assembly, That: the Wisconsin Legislature proclaims
4October 20 to 26, 2019, as National Massage Therapy Awareness Week.
