1Relating to: honoring the life and commemorating the contributions of former
2Representative Richard “Dick” Matty.
3 Whereas, Richard Matty was born on September 16, 1932, in Menominee,
4Michigan, and passed away on April 21, 2019, in Peshtigo, Wisconsin; and
5 Whereas, Matty served his country in the U.S. Army and, later on, in the U.S.
6Air Force during the Korean War; and
7 Whereas, he represented his district in the Wisconsin State Assembly for eight
8terms between 1973 and 1987, and served on various committees and councils,
9including the Governor's Highway Safety Council; and
10 Whereas, he also served as state tourism director and Marinette County
11coroner; and
12 Whereas, he was committed to conservation, assuming leadership roles in the
13Northeastern Wisconsin Conservation Alliance and the Wisconsin Conservation
14Congress; and

1Whereas, he owned and operated Matty's Steak House for a quarter century;
2and
3 Whereas, he enriched his community through participation in the Amvets,
4VFW, Crivitz Lions Club, Crivitz American Legion, Crivitz Recreation Association,
5Troop 58, and St. Mary's Catholic parish; and
6 Whereas, he was beloved by his wife, Sandra, their seven children, and their
7many grandchildren and great grandchildren; now, therefore, be it
8Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin State
9Assembly honor the life and commemorate the contributions of former
10Representative Richard “Dick” Matty; and, be it further
11Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution
12to Richard's family.
