AJR139,1,43 Whereas, when the Alice in Dairyland contest started in 1948, the winner was
4a beauty queen fresh out of high school; and
AJR139,1,75 Whereas, today, Alice in Dairyland is a public relations professional with at
6least four years of experience or education in agriculture, public relations,
7communications, or related fields; and
AJR139,1,98 Whereas, the job requirements include knowledge of Wisconsin's diverse
9agricultural products, history, and resources, as well as rural-urban issues; and
AJR139,1,1110 Whereas, in May 2019, after an intensive job interview process, Abigail Martin
11was named the 72nd Alice in Dairyland for a term of one year; and
AJR139,1,1412 Whereas, Abigail grew up on her family's 175-head dairy farm near Milton,
13Wisconsin, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree
14in dairy science; and

1Whereas, as Wisconsin's agriculture ambassador, Abigail will travel 30,000
2miles throughout the state, giving speeches and media interviews, visiting trade
3shows, and educating the public about Wisconsin's rich dairy heritage; and
AJR139,2,64 Whereas, Abigail brings an abundance of enthusiasm and an eloquent voice as
5she educates the public about the challenges and opportunities facing Wisconsin's
6agriculture industry; now, therefore, be it
AJR139,2,9 7Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
8State Legislature does hereby commend Abigail Martin for her service as Wisconsin's
9agriculture ambassador and wishes her continued success.
