Senator Shilling, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of her mom whose birthday would have been on October 6th. She would have been 76 years old; however, she’ll always be frozen in time as a 49-year-old vibrant mother of three young girls. She died by gunfire. Senator Shilling hopes that this body will someday have the courage and the strength to have a dialogue on this. Senator Shilling is going to be here in November, and she is going to adjourn in honor of her dad whose birthday is in November. He is frozen in time as a 50-year-old vibrant young dad and his death was by multiple gunshot wounds. Senator Shilling hopes as we put forward legislation and want to have a dialogue – and 80% of Wisconsinites want us to talk about how we can prevent senseless gun violence and mass shootings in this state—Senator Shilling hopes we can do that before the time runs out. She hopes we can do it. The clock is ticking. And, so, Senator Shilling would like to adjourn in honor of her loving mother Lynn Anne Wiese Ehlenfeldt. She hopes in her name – and all of the other gun violence deaths and survivors – that we can do something real, that is beyond thoughts and prayers by this body.
Senator Olsen, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of the birth of his new grandson, Chase Michael Danay.
Senate Sergeant at Arms, Ted Blazel, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of Dennis Burns. Dennis Burns was a member of the Senate Sergeant at Arms’ staff for over 30 years. He will be missed as a colleague and friend of the members of the Sergeant at Arms’ staff.
