SB1008,1,2 1An Act to amend 35.24 (1) (a) of the statutes; relating to: contents of the
2Wisconsin Blue Book.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, every two years, the Legislative Reference Bureau must
produce the Wisconsin Blue Book. Current law requires the Blue Book to contain
biographies of state officers and legislators, as well as information about the
organization of state government. This bill adds that the Blue Book must also
contain the Wisconsin constitution and the U.S. Constitution.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB1008,1 3Section 1. 35.24 (1) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:
SB1008,2,44 35.24 (1) (a) The Blue Book shall contain the biographies and pictures of state
5officers, senators and representatives to the assembly, and officers of each house, ;
6the Wisconsin constitution and the U.S. constitution;
information pertaining to the
7organization of Wisconsin state government,; and statistical and other information
8of the same general character as that heretofore published, but so selected and

1condensed as will limit the number of pages to 1,000 or less. In making such selection
2the legislative reference bureau is directed to consult freely with the state
3superintendent of public instruction and the director of the historical society, and
4insofar as possible, make the book useful for civics classes in schools.
