Notice of Submittal of Proposed Rule to
Legislative Council Rules Clearinghouse
Storage and Processing of Sexual Assault Kits
On September 1, 2022, the Department of Justice submitted a proposed rule to the Wisconsin Legislative Council Rules Clearinghouse pursuant to s. 227.15(1), Wis. Stats. Analysis
The proposed rule will create chapter Jus 20 relating to the storage and processing of sexual assault kits. A related emergency rule, EmR2207, has been published and is in effect.
Statement of Scope
The scope statement for this rule, SS 067-22, was approved by the Governor on July 21, 2022, published in Register No. 800A2 on August 8, 2022, and approved by the Attorney General on August 19, 2022. Agency Procedure for Promulgation
A public hearing is required and will be held on a date to be determined.

This rule is being promulgated with the assistance of staff in the Department of Justice’s Divisions of Forensic Sciences and Legal Services, and the Office of the Attorney General.
