NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN That, pursuant to s. 227.136, Stats., the Department of Revenue will hold a preliminary public hearing to consider a permanent scope statement to define "earned income" and "primary income from farming" as it relates to changes made to the homestead credit as a result of 2017 Wisconsin Act 59. In order to be eligible for the homestead credit, the Act requires persons to be 62 or older, disabled, or have earned income. In addition, the Act disallows certain losses in the computation of household income, except certain farmers whose primary income is from farming are allowed to deduct farm losses.

It is requested that written comments reflecting the oral presentation be given to the department at the hearing.
