February 21, 2024 - Introduced by Law Revision Committee. Referred to Committee on Senate Organization.
SB1056,,22An Act to repeal 118.19 (2); and to amend 115.28 (7) (a) and 115.341 (1) of the statutes; relating to: requirements for school breakfast reimbursement and repealing a teaching license requirement (suggested as remedial legislation by the Department of Public Instruction). SB1056,,33Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau Under current law, the state superintendent must reimburse a school board or the governing body of a private school or tribal school for each breakfast served at a school that meets certain federal regulatory requirements. Current law contains a reference to a federal regulation that was, by rule, deleted and incorporated into current federal school breakfast regulations. This bill removes that reference.
The bill repeals a provision that 1) until the end of the 1971-72 school year, prohibited the issuance of a certificate or license to teach in any public school unless the applicant had completed two years of post-high school education devoted to pedagogical instruction and training; and 2) allowed any teacher who taught in any public school during or before the 1937-38 school year to continue to teach in public schools without complying with that educational requirement.
For further information, see the Notes provided by the Law Revision Committee of the Joint Legislative Council.
