Relating to a Special Election for the Twenty-Fourth Assembly District
WHEREAS, State Representative Daniel Knodl was elected to the Eighth Senate District on April 4, 2023, and resigned as Representative for the Twenty-Fourth Assembly District on May 3, 2023.
NOW THEREFORE, I, TONY EVERS, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, pursuant to Article IV, Section 14 of the Wisconsin Constitution and section 8.50 (4)(e) of the Wisconsin Statutes, order that a special election shall be held on July 18, 2023, to fill the vacancy in the Twenty-Fourth Assembly District, as created in 2011 Act 43, and whose boundaries are set out in Section 4.24 of the Wisconsin Statutes. A copy of the boundary descriptions may be obtained from the Elections Commission or the Legislative Reference Bureau. The term of office for the Twenty-Fourth Assembly District will expire on the first Monday in January 2025. If a primary is necessary, it shall be held on June 20, 2023. Circulation of nomination papers for candidates may begin today, May 5, 2023, and nomination papers shall be filed no later than 5:00:00 p.m. on May 23, 2023, in the office of the Elections Commission, 201 West Washington Avenue, Second Floor, Madison, Wisconsin. These elections shall be held, conducted, canvassed, and returned in accordance with law. IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Wisconsin to be affixed. Done at the Capitol in the City of Madison this fifth day of May in the year of two thousand twenty-three.
