Game 7.03Game 7.03Schooling.
Game 7.03(1)(1)Only schooling races meeting the following requirements shall be considered official by the division:
Game 7.03(1)(a)(a) An official schooling race shall not be conducted unless at least 2 stewards, or a racing official designated by the presiding steward, are present 30 minutes before the start of the race and during the race.
Game 7.03(1)(b)(b) Each association shall provide a photo-finish camera approved by the division to be in operation at all official schooling races.
Game 7.03(1)(c)(c) All schooling shall be at a distance not less than 5/16 of a mile.
Game 7.03(1)(d)(d) Each official schooling race shall consist of at least 6 greyhounds. However, if less than 6, the animals may be schooled with the permission of the stewards.
Game 7.03(1)(e)(e) All greyhounds in official schooling races shall be raced at their established racing weight and started from the starting box wearing racing blankets and muzzles.
Game 7.03(2)(2)Procedures for schooling.
Game 7.03(2)(a)(a) Any greyhound that has not raced for a period of 10 racing days or more shall be officially schooled at least once to the satisfaction of the stewards before being eligible for entry. Any greyhound that has not raced for a period of 31 calendar days or more shall be officially schooled at least twice to the satisfaction of the stewards before being eligible for entry.
Game 7.03(2)(b)(b) Hand schooling shall not be considered official.
Game 7.03(2)(c)(c) Any greyhound may be ordered on the schooling list by a majority of the stewards at any time for good cause and shall be schooled officially before being allowed to enter a race.
Game 7.03(2)(d)(d) Each association shall provide unofficial schooling at least 2 times per week, weather permitting, for a minimum of 2 hours per session.
Game 7.03(2)(e)(e) Each association shall provide official schooling at least 2 times per week, weather permitting.
Game 7.03(2)(f)(f) Only greyhounds permanently kenneled in the compound shall be schooled, except for greyhounds entered in open stakes.
Game 7.03(2)(g)(g) No greyhound kenneled in the compound or registered with the racing secretary shall be permitted to be schooled at a facility other than a racetrack licensed by the division.
Game 7.03(2)(h)(h) No charge shall be imposed for conducting schooling races upon any kennel under contract with the association.
Game 7.03(2)(i)(i) Each association shall provide unofficial schooling at least 2 times per week, weather permitting, for a minimum of 2 hours per session.

Game 7.04Game 7.04Qualifying time.
Game 7.04(1)(1)Each association shall establish a qualifying time for its 5/16 mile distance and inform the stewards in writing of this time prior to the first day of the race meet.
Game 7.04(2)(2)Any change in the qualifying time established during the course of the race meeting shall be reported in writing to the stewards.
Game 7.04(3)(3)Any greyhound that fails to meet the qualifying time as established shall not be permitted to enter.

Game 7.05Game 7.05Grading system.
Game 7.05(1)(1)Grade classifications.
Game 7.05(1)(a)(a) The racing secretary shall be responsible for the proper grading of greyhounds under provisions of this section. Before the first day of a race meet the racing secretary, after sufficiently schooling all greyhounds and considering their past performances, shall classify and assign greyhounds to proper grades.
Game 7.05(1)(b)(b) The racing secretary shall use the following 6 grades; A, B, C, D, E and M.
Game 7.05(1)(c)(c) Grade M refers to maiden classification which indicates a greyhound has not won an official race at a pari-mutuel racetrack supervised by a regulatory agency and is under the age of 24 months. On the last race day of the month in which a greyhound reaches the age of 24 months, maidens shall be graded to grade E.
