16115.453 Licenses to teach computer science; grant program. (1) In this
17section, “eligible employee” means a school district employee who holds a license or
18permit to teach issued by the department that does not authorize the employee to
19teach computer science.

20(2) Beginning in the 2022-23 school year, the department shall award grants
21to school districts to provide assistance to eligible employees for the purpose of
22obtaining a license or permit that authorizes the eligible employee to teach computer
23science.

1(3) In awarding grants under sub. (2), the department shall give priority to
2applications submitted by a school district that satisfies any of the following criteria:

42 USC 1758 (b) (1).

(6) Regardless of whether or not an objection is made under sub. (1)
11or an order is issued under sub. (3), if a school board adopts a resolution to terminate
12the use of race-based nickname, logo, mascot, or team name that is associated with
13a federally recognized American Indian tribe or American Indians, in general, the
14state superintendent may award a grant to the school board for the costs associated
15with adopting and implementing a nickname, logo, mascot, or team name that is not
16race-based
. The state superintendent may not award a grant under this subsection
17in an amount that exceeds the greater of $50,000 or a school board's actual costs to
18adopt and implement a nickname, logo, mascot, or team name. The state
19superintendent shall pay the awards under this subsection from the appropriation
20under s. 20.255 (2) (kg).

(7g) Transportation. The parent or guardian of a pupil who is
23attending an institution of higher education or technical college under this section
24and is taking a course for high school credit may apply to the state superintendent
25for reimbursement of the cost of transporting the pupil between the high school or
1participating private school in which the pupil is enrolled and the institution of
2higher education or technical college that the pupil is attending if the pupil and the
3pupil's parent or guardian are unable to pay the cost of such transportation. The
4state superintendent shall determine the reimbursement amount and shall pay the
5amount from the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2)
(cy) (cx). The state
6superintendent shall give preference under this subsection to those pupils who
7satisfy the income eligibility criteria for a free or reduced-price lunch under
42 USC
81758 (b) (1).”.

18aid per pupil between the previous school year and the current school year, if positive.
