AB313,1,1 An Act relating to: establishing a tick-borne disease study committee.

This bill creates a Tick-borne Disease Study Committee consisting of the secretary of health services, the secretary of natural resources, the commissioner of insurance, and 13 members appointed by the governor. Under the bill, the Tick-borne Disease Study Committee studies issues involving awareness, prevention, surveillance, diagnosis, reporting, and treatment of Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases and submits a report containing policy recommendations to the legislature within three years after the bill takes effect.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

AB313,1 Section 1. Nonstatutory provisions.

AB313,1,3 (1) Tick-borne disease study committee.

AB313,1,5 (a) There is created a tick-borne disease study committee consisting of the following members:

AB313,1,6 1. The secretary of health services or the secretary's designee.

AB313,2,1 2. The secretary of natural resources or the secretary's designee.

AB313,2,2 3. The commissioner of insurance or the commissioner's designee.

AB313,2,5 4. Three health care providers, as defined in s. 146.81 (1), appointed by the governor. At least one of the members appointed under this subdivision shall reside north of USH 10.

AB313,2,7 5. Two educators knowledgeable about Lyme disease or another vector-borne disease, appointed by the governor.

AB313,2,9 6. One representative of the private health insurance industry based in this state, appointed by the governor.

AB313,2,11 7. One person employed in the administration of a hospital in this state, appointed by the governor.

AB313,2,14 8. Two members appointed by the governor who are advocates for Lyme disease policy or residents of this state affected by Lyme disease. At least one of the members appointed under this subdivision shall reside north of USH 10.

AB313,2,16 9. One representative of a nonprofit organization with a purpose involving outdoor recreation, appointed by the governor.
