I reviewed the Leg. Council's request for information on trails expenditures, and made a number of assumptions to reach my conclusions.  First, these are Parks and Southern Forest operational expenditures only.  I did not incorporate development costs, or costs at other levels of government, i.e. county, municipal or federal expenditures.  Second, these include both linear and non-linear trails expenditures.  Third, I had to make an estimate of time spent on law enforcement based on program averages.  I believe the law enforcement component of the total is conservative.  Total expenditures in FY 06:

Total FTE Cost: $615,574       
Total LTE Cost: $415,690       
Total S&S Cost: $505,509       
Total All Costs:        1,536,773
